Explain the affiliate marketing strategy
Affiliate marketing is the method of using one website to create traffic to another in which the affiliate is rewarded for each visitor or customer brought in by his/her efforts. In this method, the affiliates operate their own websites which works as a sales partner for merchants. Today, affiliate marketing is the most reliable method of internet marketing. This kind of marketing was first introduced to the virtual world during the year 1994, and was effectively used after it came into exposure by Amazon in 1996.
There are four main players in the affiliate marketing industry: the retailer or merchant, the network, the affiliate and the customer. There are several ways to do affiliate marketing, all depending on what the affiliate is marketing. Some of them are:
1) Text Links- In this method, the affiliate links to the retailers or merchant’s products or sites using a hyper link. This is both efficient and convenient marketing.
2) Co-Branding Links-This is an excellent way to make your website look more professional. When a customer clicks the link to buy an item in an affiliate website, they are forwarded to a page that looks like it is still a part of affiliate’s website. But actually, the customer is in the merchant’s site.
3) Store Front- This option is used when we want to sell related items quickly. In this method, the customer comes to understand that they are no longer in the affiliate website.
4) Search box- In the affiliate’s website, a search box is provided to search the merchant’s site.
5) Banner Links- This kind of affiliate marketing is weak. Usually, customers try to ignore banner ads.
When we consider this kind of internet marketing, there are mainly four kinds/models from which we can choose. They are:
1) pay-per-click (PPC) – the main thing we need for this method is a website. In this affiliate type, the merchant pays the affiliate, whenever a customer is referred to their website.
2) pay-per-lead (PPL) – In this method, whenever the customer fills a form in the retailer’s/merchant’s site, the affiliate gets paid
3) pay-per-sale (PPS) – In this type, the affiliate gets paid when the customer buys one or more products from the merchant’s site through the affiliate’s site. This is a commission based program.
4) pay-per-performance (PPP). We can either choose one type or combine different types to get revenue through affiliate marketing. Another main and basic strategy for affiliate marketing is the search engine optimization (SEO). We have to make sure that the site is optimized properly. The main aspect of SEO is to make sure that the site is having proper keyword density which increases the chance of the site getting displayed in first of all the search results. Another key strategy is article marketing which is a vital way to promote our online marketing by writing short articles related to the products or industry.
In the near future, affiliate marketing will be the main option for the companies to promote their products or services because of its efficient and low cost advertisement.
