Requirements of Merchant Account Providers

If a particular organization wants to accept payment from customers through credit cards, there should be the merchant account. It does not matter whether the particular organisation is not-for-profit or for-profit. There are a lot of providers of merchant account who can approve your application for merchant accounts for enabling you to accept payments through credit card. There are several hardware and software solutions also that make you able to process the credit cards. There are some requirements by the provider of merchant accounts that you should provide them so that you will be able to obtain such an account.

The most important thing about the merchant accounts is that they are not suitable for individuals, DBA names and sole proprietors. The term DBA refers to (Doing Business As). Every entity which plans to become the merchant account provider should be authorized by the Networks of Credit Card of MasterCard and Visa. The process of authorization is inclusive of an examination on the credit history of the particular business and principals. A bank which is a member of MasterCard and visa is able to provide the services of merchant account but generally they outsource the work to the third parties. Every year registration of MSP/ISO will be reviewed. There will a fee for renewal of the registration.

When these MSPs and ISOs are registered they are able to sign up as the sales agents for sourcing merchants. These sales agents are unable to advertise them as the service providers of payment processing. They can just represent the MSP/ISO ands should identify as agents of these companies. MasterCard and Visa are strict when this requirement is enforced. Violators will be fined a substantial fee.
