TIPS FOR FILING A CREDIT CARD APPLICATION
Most of the credit card companies have the same formulas when it comes to the processing of application forms. These companies are interested in your finances and any thing that will affect their status in the future. Whether you get a credit card or not is completely dependent on the application process and the approval of your application form. Hence, you will have a better chance of getting approved, if you keep some points in mind while filling out your application form.
First and the most important information that they would like to know is; about your residential address. Do you own the place or is it rented? If rented, how much is rent or mortgage are you paying each month?
Next, the credit card companies will ask you about your employment status. Don’t ever make the mistake of telling a lie. If you are not employed, tell them promptly. There are several factors that decide the fate of your application and not just this. If you think that you get a low income, its ok; don’t adjust or manipulate it and deviate from the truth since the credit card companies will definitely find out. The credit card issuer will definitely check with employer and if you have not told them the truth, your employer will tell them. You will be in a very bad state if you are caught fabricating your income. If you think that your earnings are not enough to get you a good credit card then you can get some part time job that will supplement your present income and then apply for the credit card.
Next, the companies will want to know about your house hold income. This is the sum of the money that is coming in to your house each month from all the earners. This section is one of the most important parts in your application. Your answer to this question is so important that it will decide whether or not you will get a credit card and also decide the amount of credit limit your card will have. Hence, don’t ignore any of the monthly incomes coming in to your house hold. However, don’t fabricate this number either.
Next, they will ask you about all the debt you already have. Give a detailed report of every thing. If you are able to pay off some of your debt before submitting the application form to make it look better, go ahead with it.
After this step, the companies will want to know if you had applied for any credit in the past 6 months. They can find the answer to this question in your credit report; hence be honest. If you cheat here, it will ruin any chances of getting credit in the future.
Applying for credit all at once or too often is not a good idea. You should apply with one firm at a time since this will affect your credit rating and score.
