WHAT IS THE MAIN SOURCE OF INCOME FOR THE AFFILIATES?
An affiliate marketer is a person who promotes the sales or business of the merchants. Any person can become an affiliate marketer by joining an affiliate program. Once a person becomes an affiliate, he will have lots of products for promotion. However, picking up the right product or niche will be very fruitful for the affiliate. Commission is the main source of income for the affiliates. When an affiliate marketer agrees to promote the business, the merchant has to pay commission depending upon the schemes of the commission payout. The commission payout for the affiliate marketer is categorised into three main schemes. They are: (a) Pay per Click; (b) Pay per Lead; (c) Pay per sales. Let us define each of the commission payout schemes, which is the main source of income for the affiliates.
(A). Pay per Click:
The pay per click option is the simples and easiest way of earning commission for the affiliates. We all know that the affiliate marketer places advertisements on the internet websites to promote the sales of the merchandise business. When a person becomes an affiliate marketer, he will have an affiliate network through which the business promotion is done. If the affiliate uses the website of the merchant, then it will be linked with the affiliate network. The website of the merchandise business is submitted on the most popular search engines like Google, Yahoo, etc. The search engine optimisation helps the business by making the website visible on the search results. When the people find the website on the search result and click on the web link, they will be driven into the main affiliate network. Now, the tracking systems of the affiliate program records the clicks of the online users and then the affiliate marketer can earn commission on every click of the online users. For diverting the online users into the business, the affiliate gets paid through the Pay per Click scheme.
(B). Pay per Lead:
Lead generation is important for the online merchandise or marketing businesses. On seeing the advertisements, the people will click on the link to know more details about the business products. When the online users are driven into the affiliate network or into the merchant’s website, the website visitor’s details are automatically tracked by the tracking systems. This is called as customer lead generation which contains the information of the website visitor. The generated leads of the customers are used for building an opt-in list. The list building strategy is important as the merchant can use various affiliate marketing techniques to approach the customers. Thus, we can see that the affiliate gets paid when the customer leads are generated through his network.
(C). Pay per Sale:
In this scheme, the affiliate gets paid only if the sales are promoted by him. The merchant pays certain percentage of the sales value to the affiliate as commission. Every sale promoted through the affiliate is recorded on the affiliate network and it is easy for the affiliate marketer to collect the commission as per the records.
